Emirates Post Group participates in UPU 1st Global Addressing Conference

Emirates Post Group participated in the Global Addressing Conference organized by Universal Postal Union (UPU) with the aim of exploring how to extend access to address infrastructure. The conference, supported by the Saudi Post, was held at UPU headquarters in Berne, Switzerland, on 26 and 27 October 2015, during the UPU Council of Administration session.

Commenting on the event, Chief Commercial of EPG, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, said that the participation of Emirates Post Group delegation was in line with EPG's efforts to keep pace with international trends in addressing and new tools of address management. The participation reflected EPG's determination to adopt the most advanced addressing models as the country continues to stay ahead in the international community in diverse fields, including postal matters.

The event discussed new ways for addresses to be developed and implemented faster and at lower cost, in particular through the use of new technologies. The topics included explanation of the economic and social value of address infrastructure; reviewing innovative solutions and tools that facilitate address management and access to spatial information and building capacities through a hands-on session.

The conference conveyed the message that effective use of address information can alleviate many of the developmental challenges faced by countries, such as urban development, social inclusion, provision of basic services, and preparedness for natural disasters.
