EPG among first federal entities to join TRA’s 'Single sign-on' for government services

As one of the four entities selected by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to implement the Single Sign-On facility, Emirates Post Group is in advanced stage of offering multiple government services online using a single access point.

The TRA recently launched the first phase of SmartPass service through the Single sign-on (SSO) initiative, to adopt unified data for government transactions online using a single access point. This is one of the 22 initiatives of the smart government as part of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The project will initially enable customers to transact with four government departments, including Emirates Post Group; the other entities are Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation, the TRA, and Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme. The remaining 42 federal entities will be connected to the application within one year after the launch.

To access the application in Arabic or English, users are first required to register their information through service kiosks (SmartPass Devices) located in shopping malls and petrol stations, and then use the username and password to access any government service through different government websites.

"Emirates Post Group has been working with the TRA for several months to make Single Sign-On a success. We will soon feature two logins on our website, one for single sign-on and the other for EPG services," explained Khalid Shahdoor, Chief Information Officer, Emirates Post Group. "This will enable users to complete any number of government transactions using a single sign-on. This truly represents a great advancement in the way customers use online services."
